Hotel 81 Cosy

Hotel 81. i think many people actually have their experience staying there. i mean.... its so conveniently located everywhere. for $20 - $30 you get 2 hours of privacy. the staff dun bother who you bring to the hotel, they dun even bother how many people you bring to the hotel. hahah

last weekend, spur of moment, decided to check into a hotel 81 for 2 hours :P cos i was at a cake shop in chinatown plaza (opposit the old rairua) so the nearest hotel 81 = Hotel 81 Cosy. located at 8 Jiak Chuan Road Singapore 089263 (off Keong Siak Road)

the moment i step into the room....i realised that its a very small room. and its. DIRTY! i mean... look at the floor~ Stained!!!!! oops... i mean. VERY stained!

Then the room is totally not cold at all!! it doesn't help that the air con was leaking.... the common corridor was cooler than the room!

there was a strange smell coming from the toilet.... and i pushed open the toilet door... and heard a drip drip drip sound.... the towl bowl was leaking!!!

i got so disgusted with the place that i can't even bear to walk bare foot! i placed a towel on the floor and told my partner.... we'll just share a towel. and i was basically walking around on the towel. LOL

On the way out of the hotel.. i saw the below sign in the lift.. and i just roll my eyes....

later hear my partner say, when he checked out. he told the reception "I think your hotel seriously need a renovation!" and the guy at the reception was like "har? what happened sir?"

the though of the place gives me the creep!

KL / Genting

2 weeks ago, i was invited to an "all expense paid" holiday to KL. hehehe anyway, reached the air port at 6.10 am. and the check in queue was bloody long!

after a quick bite at the airport, and the announcements says that my gate was open. so quickily proceed for boarding... while queueing, had a glimpse at the plane that i was about to board. hmm... damn small.... Jet star. Reach KLIA in 45 mins time. and timing reads 9am. next we took the KL Express train to KL Sentral. (cost RM$35 per person per way) and the train ride took about 28 mins.

sidenote: i dun really like the plane ride to KL in Jetstar. the seat was a little bit cramp, the steward was chatting with each other quite loudly. (i was sitting at the back row) he was chatting with his female counter parts about the last time his transit in Kuching or something.... anyway, the only good news is that... dispite him chatting loudly... he actually looks "not ugly" and... have a nice butt. LOLLL damn... the guy sitting beside me were coughing and sneezing like crazy.

since it was too early to check in at the hotel, so at a friend's recommendation, we decided to take the KL Commuter to Mid-Valley to walk walk first. i could only say.... try to avoid the KL commuter if you can... the train is damn old.... and... SLOW... waited 25 mins just for one train.

alighted at mid valley and the buildings there sort of reminds me of hongkong! hehehe

had to take this pic of the whale that is on exibition at mid-valley. LOL cos my friend's website have another pic of this whale in his blog! (he was there one week before me) His view from the top, my view from the bottom. haha oh ya.... bought a moisturiser from a shop that is no longer operating in singapore, for a friend. owed him that present for some times liao. haha after walking around for a while, took a cab to my hotel.

i was staying in Hotel Melia, which was just located directly opposite Times Square. and was just next to Imbi LRT station. the hotel was nothing great, but as i have stayed there before, and this hotel was choosen for its convenience location. checked in... and went up to the room at 7th floor. damn... a non-smoking floor. and the room is soooooooooooooooooooooooo damn small, with a queen size bed. so called up the reception and explained that we had originally requested for a smoking room. so... room change~ ya... 7th floor changed to 1st floor, a bigger room with a King size bed :P

on the way to Times square for lunch, noticed this NOKIA Care center beside my hotel.. and quite a lot of people inside. that left me wondering..... "Wah... Nokia also so much problem in KL ah? " hahaha

Saw on the brocher at the information center of Wendy's fast food. and quickly located the the restaurant inside for lunch. Wendy sells all the burgers and fried chicken. which is only so-so. thus can't even bothered to take a pic of the food. haha spent the rest of the day walking around in Bk Bintang. all the major shopping malls. and streets. used to go KL on a yearly basis. so nothing fascinating. haha but since i was on a holiday, might as well make the best of it. :)
especially love this pic of Bintang Walk that i took. :P artisitc hor? LOL it was at this point of time that i starts to feel unwell... coming down with a flu. damn. must be that guy sitting next to me on the plane... damn.

The next day, after breakfast, originally wanted to go up to Genting early in the morning, but as my flu was getting bad, thus was ordered to rest for a while in hotel. while someone went out to pharmacy to buy me some medication. finallly woke up and left for Genting at 2pm.... all the while telling myself. "I am on a holiday! i REFUSE to be sick!!!!!" and i think that will power is somehow amazing. haha afterall, not only my holiday is at stake here, someone will be affected too. so i pulled myself together. and almost immediately, felt better.

You will have to go to KL Sentral, buy ticket for the Genting Express, which includes a bus ticket to midway Genting, where you have to alight and change to a Genting Skyway. which is actually a cable car up to genting. total cost is about RM$8. or was it RM$7.50. can't remember. the bus ride takes about 1 hour. (bus departure every 1/2 hour) and the skyway takes about 15-20 mins. buy the bus ticket early, as on busy day, bus usually are full.

As there were low hanging clouds that day... the whole of mid genting is covered with clouds. ya... the trip on the sky way, felt like walking among clouds~ basically you can't see what is in front of you. (about 5-10m) haha a trip into the unknown. all is very very very quiet. spent the rest of the day in Genting.
i seem to ALWAYS have this problem in Genting. the bus service at mid-way hill top only operates until 8pm. but the skyway operates until 12 am. and you wanted to leave Genting at 9plus. there are no ways for you to get back to KL. i dunno if you know this..... but there is a bus interchange at First World Hotel. which have direct bus service to bring you back to KL. only have 2 trip though. 10pm and 11pm (last bus) seats are limited. so please buy your tickets early. everytime when i try to buy the ticket at 9pm, was always told the 10pm bus are FULL. so have to wait till 11pm. Oh ya.... you can change for bus tickets with your casino points :P which i only discovered during this trip. haha and i also got myself a free hotel stay at my next visit. hahaha

As i was drowsy after medication the next day, thus i din really went around. haha but while i was resting in bed, someone got out and bought me 2 sling bag that i was originally eyeing on. :P

Notes on this tip:

1) i did not visit Pertaling street this time. due to tight schedule + sick. had orignally wanted to go to get something :P

2) i ate mostly pastry and fast food. still do not have the courage to sit at their coffee shop and eat their food... the hygience level was like.... er..... :P

3) Shopping centers features shops mostly available in singapore. (read: Pavallion, Times Square) but Mid-Valley have many things to buy! and do check out their Metro-Jaya all over KL. much much much more things compared to metro in singapore. haha

4) total time including queuing to take a flight from singapore to KLIA and transfer the express to reach KL Sentral = 4-5 hous. is an experience. but if you hate to travel here and there, you might as well take a bus. (5-6 hours). saving you the trouble of boarding and alighting.

5) you can never win at Jackpot. unless you have lotsa capital to play. i discovered this game called "Casino Wars". which is you just place your bet on the table (min RM$25). you and other players and the banker will have one card each. and you only compare those cards. eg, if the banker card is smaller than yours, then YOU WIN. LOL simple and straight forward. this game is not avaible in the casino of First World though.

6) the massage at PB Blind massage is really good. that is if you like those HARD massage. if you are into those soft relaxing massage.... you might want to skip this. haha

7) visited SENSES. a AJ suana in KL. had a little trouble locating it. they actually have this rain room, there it will starts to rain at an interval!

8) check out the pastry shop located at the entrance of GENTING HOTEL. like their variety. not really expensive too.

9) important thing to travel to KL, get a hotel that is NEAR the LTR station. else you will need to spend a lot on cabs. which mostly is on meters... but there are also a lot who operate without meter. especially after mid-night and peak hours.

10) i really enjoyed this trip. haha in short. i was pampered to death this trip. dispite being sick. haha

Especially wants to thank LC for being the LIFE LINE. haha been smsing him on where to go. what to do, and he replies with all the addresses!!! haha

thanks for reading.
